The Chairman of Enugu East local government council, Mr Beloved-Dan Anike says that his newly formed Nike United football club of Enugu is ready to storm the Nigeria football scene.
He said this while interacting with newsmen in his office.
Anike said that having formerly registered the club with the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC), the team was prepared for competitions.
“We are currently completing the process of registering with the Enugu State Football Association, and once that is done, we will take the Nigeria football scene by storm, ” he said.
He said that the formation of the club became necessary so as to harness the talents that abounds in the local government area.
“We used to have Nike league with several local teams featuring and some other competitions, which we organise here within the local government.
“Having observed the level of talented youths participating in those competitions, when I took over as chairman, I said it was time to harness these young talents, ” he said.
The chairman also said it was another way of youth empowerment and taking the youths off the streets.
