The Chief Medical Director ( CMD), Enugu State Teaching Hospital, Park-lane Enugu, Prof. Bertrand Ngwu, has promised to improve the welfare of the Senior Staff to become millionaires before the end of his tenure.
Ngwu made the promise in Enugu during the inauguration of the Senior Staff Association of the hospital.
He applauded the organisers of the programme , saying staff can only achieve their desired goals through an organised body .
The CMD admitted that he was a member of the association in Ebonyi State and would also become a registered member of the association in Park-lane Enugu.
Ngwu, however, appealed to the members of staff to always put in their best at work.
He said: ” When you put in your best in doing your jobs, you would not regret joining this association.”
In his speech, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association, Mr Emmanuel Ojobo acknowledged the sacrifices and struggles of their predecessors, who had fought tirelessly for workers’ right and dignity.
Ojobo added that the union was built on the principles of solidarity, justice and equity .
He said that the association was committed to promoting the welfare and interest of members.
He further commended the management of the hospital for it’s support and cooperation during the process.
He explained that the global work space was emerging rapidly and makes workers face unexpected threats on wages and benefits.
He urged the newly inaugurated Executives to lead the union with courage and integrity adding that members should remain committed and united.
The sector chairman, Mr Ken Bassey said that any staff from grade level Seven were qualified to be a member of the association
Bassey implored the staff to have a like mind if they want to achieve better results.
