Dr Law Mefor, Anambra Commissioner for Information has called on non- indigenes in the State to expose members with criminals ties amongst them.
Mefor said that Anambra government had carried all its residents as one body and urged the public to give back good services to the state.
Mefor made the appealed to the leaders of Anambra State Association of Non Indigenes Welfare in Anambra State (ANISA-ANIAS) who paid him a courtesy visit, in Awka on Wednesday.
He said that Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra had provided enabling environment for non Indigenes to live safely and run their businesses without bias.
Mefor noted that non-indegenes in the state had contributed meaningfully to the economic growth and development of the state.
He urged the group not to relent in peaceful co- existence with people of the state and advised that more efforts be geared towards security of the state.
He urged them to support the government in the fight against insecurity to make Anambra a safe place by calling out their members of questionable character.
” You people know that you have benefited immensely from Anambra governments, especially Soludo’s inclusive governance.
“In various areas including security, employment, infrastructure, healthcare, education and youth empowerment, among others,” he said.
He also explained that available data in the state shows that majority of the criminals apprehended in the state were non-indigenes.
He urged the association to do their best in supporting security interventions to rid the state of criminals in order to redeem their image.
“The issue of security is very important,Put it in your agenda.
“They are spoiling the names of those of you doing genuine businesses and of good behaviour.
“We have to come together to work with the governor to ensure that the bad eggs are shown the way out of Anambra,” he said.
He assured the association that the 1Youth 2Skills and the Solution Innovation District (SID)was open to all residents in Anambra.
He advised the group to take advantage of the programme to become better Individuals in the society.
Mefor disclosed that the governor had trained more than 30,000 people, settled and empowered them.
He assured them that any one in the group that wanted something to do should come and be part of the skill acquisition exercise.
“I can use my office to place anyone interested in the skills somewhere in SID. Criminality is bad and we must all fight against it,” he said.
Mefor further assured them that the ministry was willing to partner with the group in promoting the good works of the state government to achieve stability in all sectors of the economy.
In response, the traditional leader of Non-Indegenes Welfare in Anambra, Igwe Amos Nkwuda, said ttheir visit was to commend and allign themselves with the visionary leadership of Soludo.
Nkwuda said that the request of the government to partner with the association with a goal to combat insecurity was apt and accepted.
He assured the government that they would search inward and if any member was found to be involved any ignoble acts, he or she would be exposed.
Nkwuda also felicitated with the commissioner on his 60th birthday, and pledged their support to the good governance in the state.
He said that the soil of Anambra had blessed the members of the association and assured that the body would work for re-election bid of the governor.
Chief Ikechukwu Ugwuoke, the President General, of ANISA-ANIAS, reiterated the association’s commitment in offering support for good governance in the state.
The body also presented an art work of the Commissioner’s picture to celebrate his 60th birthday.
