The Udenu Local Government Council Administration has embarked on an open campaign against Open Defecation (ODF) throughout the area council.
Speaking to newsmen during the flag off of “United campaign against ODF” at Obollo Afor, the Chairman of the council, Aka Eze Aka said that the campaign was going to be a continuous exercise until every household in the local government owns a toilet facility.
Aka said that the united campaign against open defecation, would spread “to families, villages and communities.”
The chairman maintained that the initiative was to eradicate unhygienic practices in all the nooks and crannies of Udenu LGA.
“Keeping Udenu environment clean inline with international best practices is a task that must be done and we are not relenting in achieving that, ” he said.
The chairman added that the council would support the people of the local government to own individual toilet systems.
Aka, who was the immediate past commissioner for Information in Enugu State, also disclosed that his administration planned to construct boreholes in each electoral ward in the LGA of which the pilot stage had commenced.
