ENSBA urges govt to give tax holiday to sponsors of boxing tournaments

The Board of Enugu State Boxing Association Board (ENSBAB), has urged the state government to grant tax holiday to sponsors of boxing tournaments in Enugu State.
The board made the appeal in a statement at the end of it’s  meeting in Enugu at the weekend and made available to newsmen.
According to the statement jointly signed by the Vice Chairman and Technical Director of the board, Ebubechukwu Nwobodo and Blaise Ude respectively, granting Tax holiday to sponsors would engender the growth and development of boxing in the state.
“We appeal to the state government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports to grant Tax holiday to willing sponsors of boxing tournaments in Enugu State.
“This will no doubt encourage sponsors from both within and outside the state to sponsor boxing events in our dear state, ” the board said.
The board expressed the hope that the tax holiday would make it easier for the board to scout for tournament sponsors from  both within and outside the state.
“If sponsors are given tax holiday boxing will surely grow in Enugu State as sponsors will flood the state, ” the association said.
Meanwhile, the board has  disclosed that 10 boxers (all males) have been selected to represent Enugu State in the forthcoming National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun in May
According to the statement, the boxers were selected after the trials which took place at the state’s sports council arena, adding that over 20 boxers took part in the trials.
“The boxers are now in a close camping until the departure for the festival in May, ” the statement said.
