Some School Administrators in Aba have urged the Federal Government to subsidize education so that parents and guardians could sustain their children’s education.
The Administrators made the call on Tuesday while speaking to the newsmen who monitored school resumption in Aba.
The Administrators who spoke to said, the high cost of schooling might deprive some children the opportunity of formal education as many parents and guardians even struggles feed.
Galaxy Schools Gem Principal, Mr Martins Achonwa, said that pupils and students deserved better education as they are the furtue of tomorrow.
He noted that students and pupils turnout to school on the resumption day, was impressive, adding that the school authority made them to know that education is their business.
“Lot of children have dropped out of school due to hardship, governments need to ensure that education is free or still yet, make education accessible and affordable,,”he said.
Secred Heart of Jesus School Principal, Mr Victor Onyekwere acknowledged that there was low turn out of students and pupils and he attributed it to the festive celebration.
He said the students and pupils were expected to be back en-mass before Thursday, adding that the teachers could not because of the absence of the students, refuse to commence teaching.
According to Onyekwere, the school biggest challenge is the hardship in the country which makes some to stop coming to school.
The Principle advised the parents and guadians to release their wards to school so that, they would not be left behind in academic activities.
In her contribution, A Public Primary School Head Teacher, Mrs Onyekachi Uka, of Tenant Road Primary School , Aba, said subsidising education would be of much benefit to parents and guadians.
Uka called on the government to always pay more attention to private schools and ensure that substandard ones were eliminated or closed.
“We lost many students to the privates school in spite of the high fee they pay, that is why we have fewer pupils in attencance.
Reports that few pupils were seen in the classroom when our correspondent visited some primary schools at Aba South Local Government Area.
The Public schools visited were, Clifford Road Primary School, Barracks Primary School, East Street Primary School, Tenant Road Primary School and Danfodia Road Primary School I and II, all in Aba South.
