A middle aged man, Chima Ettah, has been arrested by the officers of the Nigeria Police, Ebonyi Command for allegedly beating his wife and mother of his three children, Mrs Ugochi Chima, to death in the state.
Ettah alleged murdered his wife over argument rising from the unlawful treatment to their house help by the husband.
He attacked his wife when trying to stop him from the punishment given to the house help.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, Spokesman of the command confirmed the incident to reporters on Tuesday in Abakaliki.
Ukandu explained that the incident occured on September 4, 2024 at Etim community, Edda local government area of Ebonyi, following alleged unlawful treatment to their house help by wife battery.
“Yes, the Command is aware. The man, Ettah have been in our custody. It was very unfortunate. The man beat up his wife and was rushed to the hospital, where she gave up the ghost,” the Police Spokesman said.
On arraignment of accused, Ukandu said that the suspect would be taken to court when the command conclude its investigation.
Mr Godwin Chima-omaka, the Deceased Elder Brother explained that her sister, Ugochi was allegedly beaten and murdered by her Husband because she tried to save their house help from her husband maltreatment.
“My younger sister was beaten when she was trying to intervene into her husband’s maltreatment to their house help, who happened to be the husband’s nephew.
“The ugly act started when my sister told her husband to stop punishing and maltreating the boy, then the husband immediately grabbed my sister and started beating her until she collapsed.
“She was rushed to the hospital before she died. Off course, they may be having differences but that doesn’t suppose to lead him into killing his wife.
“They have three kids, a girl, 9-year-old and twin boys, 7-year-old respectively,” he explained..
