Anambra Speaker promises more people- oriented bills

Dr Somtochukwu Udeze,Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly (ASHA) has reiterated his commitment to legislative initiatives that will advance the state.

Udeze said that under his guidance, the 8th Assembly will provide people oriented bills that residents will comply with easily.

He said in a press statement made avaliable to newsmen on Sunday in Awka by his Special Adviser on New Media,Mr Frank Osuagwu.

Udeze re-assured the people of Anambra as he celebrates his birthday that his commitment to advancing legislative initiatives is irrevocable.

” The bills from these crop of legislators has brought about remarkable progress in the state, benefitting the lives of Anambra people and nothing less will be given.

“Our leadership has driven significant legislative advancements, furthering the development growth and well-being of Anambra people.

He said that they have passed over twenty people-oriented bills that will shape the future of the state, some of the key bills are;
“Anambra State Anti-Touting Bill,The Anambra Secret Cultism Bill,,ĺThe Anambra State Peace Building and Conflict Management Bill.
Anambra State Environmental Management, Protection and Administration Bill 2024.

“Trafficking in persons (Prohibition), Enforcement and Administration Bill 2024,Health Facilities Monitoring And Accreditation Agency Bill.
“Revenue Administration (Consolidation and Harmonizing) Bill, 2024,Anambra State Market Safety Bill, 2024,Anambra State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission Bill, 2024, among many others.

He Noted, that the Assembly has also passed over 70 resolutions addressing socio-economic challenges in the state, setting an unprecedented record.

Udeze said that the legislators have strengthened the legislative process through effective oversight, ensuring accountability in public spending.

He noted that under his leadership, the Public Petitions Committee has resolved numerous petitions, fostering peace and fairness across the state.

The Speaker said that it has overseen significant upgrades to the Anambra State House of Assembly, improving its infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency and promised more of related functions.

He disclosed that collaboration with the Governor, Prof Charles Soludo has resulted in the approval of critical projects, noted that the legislature remains a beacon of democratic governance.

vision and leadership will continue to inspire Anambra towards a liveable and prosperous homeland.
