Peter Obi to present keynote lecture as Rotary International Inaugurate District Governor

 

Awka, Anambra State is set tor play host to over 1,500 Rotarians and guests from the five states of the South East, and Cross River and Akwa Ibom South South states on July 27,Saturday, to mark the investiture of a new District Governor, in person of Nkemdili Nonyelu, a Professor of Industrial Relations at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

The Rotarians in charge of the event has ticked Anambra International Conference Center, Awka for the event which has the theme, “Magic of Rotary”.

The Rotary event will also witness the presence of Labour Party (LP) party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi; Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno and other political heavyweights

In the investiture, Prof Nonyelu would be honoured as the 8th Governor of Rotary International, District 9142 in Awka, Anambra State.

Governor Soludo, according to the briefing, would declare the ceremony open, while Mr Obi is to deliver a lecture on leadership and its virtues.

Prof. Nonyelu disclosed that the Rotary International would at the event present the vision and mission of the organization within the rotary year.

He further described Rotary as an organization of professionals who come together with one objective of worthy enterprise and service.

“Other areas are protecting the environment, converting waste to wealth, supporting government in growing local economy, including assisting indigent widows, over 2,000 empowerment, polio eradication, which is a most significant project, and so on.

“Rotary International is a membership organization and membership drive will be our priority because of the enormous work we have in mind. Every Rotarian is expected to donate 1000 dollars annually.

“The club is not only led by the 4-wheel test, it also has focal areas, including peace promotion, education, health, water sanitation and hygiene, maternal and child health, disease prevention and treatment, mental health, “he concluded.

Earlier Past Assistant Governor, PAG, Mr Chika, chairman of the installations activities said that all vital plans have been made and assured guests of their safety.

Mrs Olachi Emegeakor, the District Secretary urged the members to ensure he key into the goal of the Rotary International never getting tired in servings humanity.

The District Public Image, PAG,Tochi Amalu and the Chief of Staff to to DG PAG Chibueze Adirka reminded the people on need to be their brothers keeper through rendering service to humanity.
