The Enugu State Boxing Coach, Blaise Udeh, says the state has commenced preparations for the 2026 National Sports Festival (NSF).
Udeh disclosed this to newsmen in Enugu.
Udeh said that several youth boxing tournaments have been lined up for grassroots talent hunt across the state.
“We have just concluded a statewide Speakers tournament for U-17 boys where we selected several U-15 boxers.
“These boys will be used for preparations for national youth games coming up in Asaba, Delta in September.
“This is geared towards preparations for the National Sports Festival (NSF) in 2026, which Enugu State is hopefully going to host, ” Udeh said.
He commended the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Lloyd Ekweremmadu and Gov. Peter Mbah for supporting sports development in the state.
“I commend the governor, through the Commissioner for supporting sports development in Enugu State.
“Since their coming on board, sports has been given much attention unlike before; so, I commend him for this, ” he said.
The coach, however, called on the government to provide more facilities for.boxing in the state.
“We need more incentives and modern facilities to excel, ” he said.
