Great Achievers Football club of Enugu has emerged champions of the 2023/24 Enugu State Football Association (FA,) League after defeating Inter FC of Enugu 3-2 in penalties .
The first 45 minutes ended one all while the second half could not produce any goal.
After the regulation time the match was decided on penalties.
The winners went home with N500,000; second N300,000 while the third place went home with N200,000.
Speaking, Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association, Tony Ugwu commended the winners and other participating teams fot their gallantry
“I am satisfied with the display of both teams and I wish that they will represent Enugu State well in the nationwide league.
Ugwu said that the display of the two teams finalists meant that great achievers would do well in the lower national league.
“It was a fantastic display by both teams and I salute the winners, it’s not easy to play in the finals, ” he said.
He, however, urged the winners to strengthen the team to ensure strong participation in the lower nationwide league.
